Pat O`Kane was the creator and driving force behind the Sanbury Cup tournament which he started in 1979. Pat continued to develop the tournament each year until his untimely passing in 1991. The Falcons soccer club who host the tournament quickly renamed it to the Pat O`Kane Cup in his honour as a small tribute to the countless hours he put into both the tournament and the club. Pat was a passionate player and person. His dedication, determination and personality affected all those who came in contact with him. You couldn`t help but catch on to his enthusiasm for the game and life. Pat would be proud to see how far the tournament has come over the years to being the largest Senior outdoor tournament in Ottawa Carleton.
Pat is still thought of a great deal by all those who were lucky enough to be associated with him. That feeling is intensified the weekend of the tournament.
A great man and a great soccer person Pat`s legacy will live on in the spirit of the 30th Annual Pat O`Kane Cup
